Decorating Your New Home Bathroom Trends In 2012

Here’s An Opinion On: Kitchens

If you are soon to be moving into your new home and are looking for some much needed comfort and relaxation, read on at some of these helpful ideas to ensure you receive some much deserved luxury and comfort from your new bathroom.

Starting off on the technology path – which is very much in demand, not just for 2012, but as an ongoing trend for future house design – why not watch your favourite TV show where you have no worries about being disturbed? Proofvision (www.proofvision.co.uk) is a company that is featured in Grand Design Live London for their innovative designs and offers, among other items, a 15″ widescreen waterproof TV priced at 469.99 including VAT. These TVs are wall mounted, easy to install and offer features of heated screens to prevent misting in a steamy environment with speakers incorporated to eliminate unsightly bulk in your bathroom.

There are some rather eye catching accessories which can put a stamp on your bathroom, so any guest that pays a visit will know what great taste you have. Accessories for Bathrooms (accessoriesforbathrooms.co.uk) offers a wonderful “piece de resistance” for your guest toilet or main bathroom, which is a Swarovski Crystal toilet brush holder priced at 183.75 (currently in the January sale, so you will need to be quick to snap up this little gem). Although this item is a little expensive, toilet brushes are renowned for their grotty appeal but are a much needed item in a bathroom, so why not maintain your bathroom hygiene in style!

In keeping with the Moroccan/Indian, hand-crafted theme of 2012, when using candles to create your haven of tranquillity, Jasmine Way (jasmineway.co.uk) has a Bollywood-style lantern priced at 31.00. This company also offers other bathroom accessories, such as the pineapple-motif candle-holder priced at 13.50 which is in keeping with 1970s era retro, if you want a funky bathroom with some humour. Fitting with the still popular “shabby chic” trend, the same company also offers the toilet roll holder stand and Le Bain bathroom range suitable for a French-themed bathroom.

Finally, there are no set colour trends for bathrooms but some valuable advice should be to keep your colours light to ensure space and tranquillity as generally, unless your new home is on the larger side, most bathrooms and en suites are smaller than an average room and lighter shades encourage more space and light. However, do not be afraid of adding an accent colour, which can be in the form of the accessories that you dress your bathroom with, or simply with some decorative tiling or a feature wall.

American Toys: Past And Present

Here’s An Opinion On: Sydney Furniture Removal

By Ray Subs

American toys have been around for as long as we can remember. In the beginning American toys were simple items such as balls, dolls, cars and trucks and believe it or not these American toys are still around today. When you think American toys; Barbie, matchbox cars, Legos and GI Joes instantly come to mind. If you purchased one of these items when they first hit the market and kept them in good condition they are very valuable today. When you think about American toy manufacturers Playschool and Mattel are at the top of the list. These companies have been around for a very long time and many people grew up playing with them, they have produced one great toy after another and still continue to do so.

American toys have evolved with time just like everything else in this amazing world. They have to be of interest to kids today in this high tech world. You can now send Barbie on amazing adventures through your computer, or play fashion designers with her many outfits. Her family has expanded and now includes friends, siblings and pets.

YouTube Preview Image

Matchbox cars has also created an online presence, they have changed the design of there vehicles to offer some really far out cars and trucks. Cool racing vehicles and vintage automobiles are always going to be popular. GI Joe is now nearly extinct which probably makes him one of the most valuable American toys you can own. Legos now have cool themes like pirate, knights in shining armor or sci-fi creatures.

Although these classic American toys are still available many more have been added to the list. Step inside any American home with children and you will find Legos, video games and plenty of high tech toys to amuse your child for hours. Some children even have there own computer. Many American toys are modeled after characters on popular televisions shows like Barney and Dora the Explorer. These characters often come and go and the more popular ones become collectors’ items, like GI Joe and Barbie.

If you want to have a special toy that you will keep as a collector’s item, the best idea is to keep it in its original wrapper. That will usually make it more valuable. Yet the real fun of American toys is that children love to play with them and use them to the fullest extent. To handle this, you can get one toy for collecting and an identical one for play. Another option is to get great, sturdy American toys that will hold up to any kind of use your children dish out.

There certainly has been a wide variety in children’s toys, both in the past and in the present. Children enjoy playing make believe from an early age, and continue to do so long after they are sometimes willing to admit. In fact, some parents even have been known to get on the floor and play with Tonka trucks or baby dolls with their children. It often appears that they are having as much fun as their children. That is one way American toys are a part of a happy family.

This Is The Way To Pick A Grand Canyon Helicopter Tour

Here’s An Opinion On: Caterer Sydney

By Luke Plunket

If you desire to take a Grand Canyon chopper ride, you must choose between the West Rim and the South Rim. Difficult decision because both are breathtaking. Here’s a breakdown of the rims designed to make your choice easy:

The West Rim

The West Rim is 120 miles west of Vegas on Hualapai Indian tribal lands. It will take a chopper 45 minutes to get there, making it a terrific excursion if you’re tight on time and can just spare half a day. It is also well-known for this: The Grand Canyon Glass Walkway and chopper tours that land at the bottom.

YouTube Preview Image

The “glass bridge” consists of 44 specially made glass panels that cost $250,000 each. This glass observation deck stretches 70 feet beyond the edge and suspends you 4,000 feet above the Colorado River. An engineering miracle, the bridge is able to endure magnitude 8 earthquakes and wind gusts in excess of 100 miles per hour. Cameras and other personal electronics are forbidden; photographers are around to take your picture. Tip: Be sure that the Glass Walkway is bundled into your helicopter tour at time of purchase. It’s cheaper.

The helicopter ride to the bottom is intense. The descent is 15-minutes in length and puts you in direct contact with the canyon’s steep cliffs and twisted rock formations. The exposed rock represents four eras of geological time, making it the oldest exposed material on the Planet’s surface. Helicopters land on exclusive landing pads. Here, you will deplane and revel in a Champagne toast under an authentic Indian Ramada. Next, go and check out surrounding area and the nearby Colorado River.

The marketplace for West Rim helicopter tours is very competitive – shop for best deals. Should you book using the web, be ready to save up to 35 %. Total round-trip time is 4 hours and incorporates hotel pick up and drop off and lunch. There are many activities that you can add to your trip, like horse riding, kayaking, Hummer 4×4 tours, and ATV trail riding. Total trip time four hours. Packages start between $235 and $335.

Grand Canyon National Park (South Rim)

All helicopter trips originate from Grand Canyon Airport in Tusayan, a town 10 minutes from the Park’s main entrance. From Phoenix and Sedona, it is a two-hour and four-hour drive, respectively. From Vegas, you must purchase an air-ground deal, which is done onboard a fixed-wing Vistaliner aircraft and takes 45 minutes.

Upon arriving at the rim, you’ll transfer to a chopper and head out above the Kaibab Plateau until you get to the Dragoon Corridor, the widest, deepest section of the canyon. Other landmarks include the Painted Desert, the North Rim, the Zuni Corridor and Temple Butte. The Vegas package also includes ground transfer to the South Rim, where you will enjoy several hours exploring the Park, including the restaurants and gift shops at Grand Canyon Village.

The South Rim is the place where the most famous pictures and images of the canyon have been taken. Chopper trips last approximately 40 minutes. Total Las Vegas trip time, including helicopter ride and coach transfer to Grand Canyon Village, is six hours, and includes hotel pick up and drop off and lunch. South Rim heli trips start at $135 a person. The Las Vegas package starts at $360 per person.

Let’s Go!

The Grand Canyon is 190 miles in length and encompasses at least 1,900 square miles. On foot, you’ll see 45 miles of canyon – flying, 140 miles (even more if you fly from Vegas to the South Rim). If you really want to enjoy the canyon, flying is option number one. Next up: Choosing between the West Rim and the South Rim. The West Rim is packed with things to do, and it is near to Las Vegas. The South Rim boasts the best viewpoints, hiking trails, and guest amenities. The 3 top tour operators – Sundance, Maverick and Papillon – offer helicopter and air-helicopter-ground trips to both rims, varying in price from $135 per person to $360 per person. To find the best deals, always book online. Now, with this information in mind, you’re cleared for lift off.

Garden Tips For Planting Super Sweet Grape Tomatoes

Here’s An Opinion On: Qld Timber

By Mark Kessler

Spring time comes and with it comes the time to plant your garden. Garden tips range from the type of soil to plant in to ways to water your plants in order to get a full yield. However, when planting grape tomato seeds, the main garden tip is to plant them in a container inside. This will help keep them warm and give them a safe growing environment.

The best garden tip for planting sweet grape tomatoes is to prepare the soil properly. Using a good soil is essential and it doesn’t hurt to beef it up a bit. Depending upon where you live, soil can range anywhere from very fertile to don’t plant here dirt. When living in an area that has dirt that is not ideal for planting, go to a garden store and ask what type of soil they advise. The more fertile the soil, the better the plants will grow.

YouTube Preview Image

If organic grape tomatoes are what you seek, using ordinary potting soil and an indoor container will keep the insects away and will make the tomatoes pesticide free.

Container gardening will help those who live in apartments or houses without large yards grow tomatoes indoors. These containers range from the average flower pot to multi-plant containers that can hold up to a dozen small plants.

Another form of container gardening is to rent or buy a hydroponics system to grow your tomatoes in water. Growing grape tomatoes in a hydroponics system guarantees a completely organic, juicy, and super sweet grape tomatoes.

The only problem with using a hydroponics system is finding a way to prop growing tomato plants up while they scale to new heights.

The greatest garden tip that you’ll ever receive is to water your plants. The more water that a tomato contains, the more watering it will need. Tomatoes are approximately ninety percent water and if they are not watered enough they will end up being shriveled and sour. No one likes a sour grape tomato, so keep your tomatoes warm and the soil wet and you’ll have super sweet grape tomatoes growing in no time.

Perfume In Ancient Egypt

Here’s An Opinion On: Perfume

By Roberto Sedycias

Perfume was at the centre of aesthetics and therapeutics for both men and women in Ancient Egypt. Although the techniques used are mostly unrecorded, historians look to the literature of Greek and Roman writers and relief paintings and artefacts to determine the production, fashions and uses of perfume in this fascinating era.

The act of making perfume was considered an art form in Ancient Egypt. The craftsperson was considered to be an artist and the profession was open to women as well as men. The perfume making process of extraction can be determined by reliefs on the walls of tombs in Petosiris. These show that perfume making had an overseer, workers who completed the extraction and a professional tester who completed rigorous testing using the sense of smell.

YouTube Preview Image

The reliefs also pictorially detail two extraction processes. The first process shown was an ancient mechanical extraction process which was similar to wine production. This required a large bag and two staffs which were used as a press. The second was a form of chemical extraction with the assistance of heat and soaking in alcohol. The processes are early versions of modern perfume extraction techniques that have only really advanced in terms of equipment available and synthetic ingredients.

The reliefs also show red berries poured from a container, which details the nature of the products used to extract different scents. The ingredients used in perfume were usually plant in origin such as henna and cinnamon. The ancient natural philosopher, Pliny the Elder, records floral scents such as iris, bitter almond and lilies in his Natural History as being used in abundance. Myrrh which is a resin from shrubs and other aromatic woods were used. Animal fats such as musk are also recorded as being used in some perfumes. Some Egyptian recipes are still in existence though they are difficult to replicate.

However, the Egyptians had typically exotic tastes, and in addition to home grown essences, they also imported aromatics such as ladanum from Arabia and East Africa, galbanum from Persia, and the coveted frankincense due to unsuccessful attempts to grow it in Egyptian climes. The fact that ingredients were imported even in ancient times shows the importance of perfume. The imported varieties were expensive and initially reserved for the use of the gods or export only.

Excavated reliefs show that from ancient times the blend and quantity of perfume was as important as how long the scent would last. Perfume was a major export material in ancient times with various countries battling to produce the highest quality. Susinum was a particular favourite, and the competitive nature shows that in ancient times, some form of uniformity and standard was expected. Pliny the Elder described an Egyptian perfume that retained its scent after 8 years, and the ancient Greek botanist, Dioscorides, agreed that Egyptian perfume was far superior to that made by other civilisations.

Egyptian perfumes were usually named after the town of production or the main ingredient. Storage was in glass or stone vessels, with alabaster being the most coveted. The decoration was ornate and often bejewelled, with packaging reflecting modern day requirements of functionality and attractiveness. Perfume was burnt as incense, as named in documents from the reign of Thutmose III which detail different varieties such as green incense and white incense. Perfume was worn for aesthetic reasons, in the form of oil based liquid infusions, or wax and fat for creams and salves. This suggests there was also a medicinal purpose recognised.

Perfume was mainly for the elite classes until the golden age. It was used by kings who were believed to be of divine descent as it was believed that the gods favoured perfume. High officials were anointed with perfume when they were appointed to office to call the favour of the gods.

Incense was used to hide the smell of animal sacrifice during ceremonies. Balms were seen as medicinal as perfume was thought to repel demons and win the favour of the gods. Perfume was also an important part of death and burial rites. Bodies were perfumed during mummification as it was believed the soul would visit the gods and so perfume would repel demons. Interestingly, 3300 years after Tutankhamen death, scent could still be detected in his tomb.

Edenpure Portable Heater: Likes And Dislikes

Here’s An Opinion On: Kitchen Sydney Manufacturer

By Sam Streubel

Before I tell you what’s not to like about the Edenpure quartz infrared heater, I’d like to spend a minute telling you what I do like, and explain how it works.

How the EdenPure Works At the heart of these infrared heaters are the quartz bulbs.

Similar to incandescent lamps, quartz bulbs are formed by enclosing a tungsten resistance wire within a high purity quartz sheath.

They provide even, non drying floor to ceiling heat and, according to the manufacturer, reduce positive ions in the atmosphere responsible for many respiratory problems.

The bulbs are rated to last 5 – 7,000 hours, or 3 – 5 years, and cost around $10 each to replace.

The Edenpure/SunTwin (I can’t tell the difference) heaters are offered in 3 sizes: 500, 1,000, and 1,500 watt and the unit model numbers coincide with the heat output in watts. So a SunTwin 1500 Elite produces 1,500 watts.

YouTube Preview Image

The heaters are thermostatically controlled, equipped with a circuit breaker, and have a 1 year warranty.

What I Do Like About the EdenPure Quartz Infrared Heater It has a cool to the touch exterior and, unlike some other heaters, doesn’t have glowing red wires or an exposed fan. This is a big plus if you have kids and/or pets.

Despite the complaints some consumers have with the EdenPure, I haven’t found one that is health or safety related.

What’s Not to Like The #1 complaint of consumers who have actually purchased the EdenPure heater comes down to this: Too little heat for too much money.

Putting aside the cost factor for a moment, I’ll address the “too little heat” complaint first.

Too Little Heat The results you get from a 1,500 watt heater, EdenPure or otherwise, depends on how it’s being used. Bear in mind, a 1,500 watt heater is the equivalent of only 450 Btus. This is minuscule compared to a typical 65,000 btu oil or gas fired furnace.

If you’re depending on a 1,500 watt heater as your only heat source, it will heat only 150 – 200 square feet depending on how well your home is insulated, obstructions to the flow of heat, such as walls, and the outside temperature.

Here’s the basic “rule of thumb” formula for calculating space heater capacity: Watts/10 = heated space in square feet. Or: 1,500/10 = 150.

However, if you use a space heater to supplement your existing heating system by turning back the thermostat and letting the space heater pick up the slack, you could increase the effective heating range of a 1,500 watt heater to around 600 square feet.

Too Much Money I chalk this up to what I call the “furniture factor.” You can either buy a space heater that looks like a space heater, or one that doubles as an end table.

An even better example of the “furniture factor” is the electric fireplace. No matter which electric fireplace you look at, they all have the same 1,500 watt heater. Yet, depending on the design of the mantel piece, you could easily spend 2 or 3 times more for an electric fireplace than an EdenPure portable heater.

The difference is, people who buy an electric fireplace are looking for furniture – people who buy an EdenPure quartz heater are looking for heat.

What an Actual EdenPure Owner Has to Say I recently received the following unsolicited comment from a Mr. J. Hendon. He is an actual EdenPure user and here, with his permission, are his unedited comments:

“Hi Sam, a good article and accurate as can be. I don’t even find the one lone complaint to be valid, I bought one recently (I got the Edenpure The only difference is the SunTwin has a beautiful wooden case) but I’ve had enough experience with space heaters to know you cannot heat much space with a 1500 watt unit. So I wasn’t expecting miracles. But frankly, it heats much more than I had thought it would and I am grateful. It is the smoothest, best feeling heat, I’ve ever seen and they are right, it heats all over, not just in front of it. I plan to buy another, maybe even two more. We have been heating our home with a gas furnace until recently and natural gas prices go out of sight in the cold months. I had additional insulation installed overhead, new storm windows, etc. and started using electric heat last year. I have a number of 1500 watt conventional electric heaters and one 220 volt 3000 watt.

But so far this winter with my Edenpure, I have only had to turn the big one on a few times to supplement the Edenpure. Our kitchen, dining and living areas are all together and total about 650 square feet. I still have the furnace in the event of bitter cold.

Understand, we live in east central Alabama which has only been down into the mid 20′s thus far this winter, but our average winters usually only get down to about 15 a few times.”

Knowing Your Intellectual Property Rights And Protecting Your Ideas

Here’s An Opinion On: Nlp Sydney

By Major Sherry

Have you ever seen an infomercial on TV or a commercial for something that you thought would be a great idea years ago? Did you ever think to yourself that if you would have created it you could have been making the profits? Well, this is where knowing your intellectual property rights come into play and getting your ideas protected. You need to know about this just in case you have the next million dollar idea.

What you should know about your Intellectual Property Rights

YouTube Preview Image

Any inventor is only as good as the lawyer that protects his or her intellectual property rights. This also goes for screenwriters, writers in general, and entrepreneurs. Could you imagine if you spend years working on a new invention, a new movie script, or a concept for a business, then you find out that someone else has already used your idea and created what you were trying to put together?

How would this make you feel? This is why we have intellectual property rights and if you have an idea for a business, an invention, or really anything at all, then you need to own the copyright to that idea. This will protect your idea from being stolen. If someone else was to try to use your idea and you own the rights, then you are able to get a piece of the action.

This is why every single time you hear a popular song the artist gets paid. You cannot just go and use their music for your own personal or business gain. You have to have permission, first, and that costs money. So if you have a copyright on your ideas, your music, your story, your computer program, your video game, or anything else, then nobody can steal your ideas and use them for their gain without your permission.

It is always a good idea to find out if you have rights that you should be protecting whenever you have an idea or something else that might need a copyright. If you have a copyright you are protected, but if you do not you will be wondering why you did not make a million dollars off your idea. Always consult a lawyer to make sure your rights are protected.

Using a Lawyer for Intellectual Property Rights

Copyright and contract law can be very confusing to those that have not spent years studying law in school and years practicing law after graduation. This is why lawyers are so expensive. They spend an enormous part of their life going to school and getting the degree they need to practice law. You can take advantage of this and use a lawyer for all your intellectual property rights issues.

There are some lawyers that specialize in copyright and contract law. These are the best ones for you to choose to help you protect your ideas. It is not easy to make sure you are protected and when you have an idea that you know is going to be huge, you need to protect it while you are developing it. This could lead to a patent, that leads to an invention, and that means cash in your pocket. Just make sure your intellectual property rights are protected so your winning idea does not get stolen.

Powerful Powerpoint: Create Your Own Television Style Commercial

By Mark Walters

A powerful advertising tool: Less than $1000.00, Made in 1 day, Office/Retail/Event/Trade Show

Includes a Sample Commercial

When we think of PowerPoint we think of business meetings where a boring succession of facts are presented in a mind numbing succession.

PowerPoint Presentations deliver sales messages in retail stores, doctor’s offices, business offices, fund raising events, anywhere people wait.

PowerPoint now allows audio messages.

PowerPoint can be set up in movie format.

A commercial playing on a television screen is far more effective than having a clerk ‘intrude’ into the customer’s privacy to ask ‘May I help you?’

Television commercials are written in story format, because stories keep people’s attention.

3. Use Suspense not Mystery

Introduce characters

Make them people the audience will care about

Introduce a solution.

Do not keep the solution a secret from the audience. Everyone but the main characters should be able to guess the solution.

Focus on the client – not how you excel over the competition

Focus on the client – not why they should stay at your store

Introduce the risks involved with not taking action

Go For An African Safari While Visiting Florida

Here’s An Opinion On: Cape York Camping

By Janice McSherry

It may not be possible to take your whole family for a safari in Africa, but if you are visiting Florida you can go on an authentic wildlife tour of ‘Africa’ by visiting the Safari Country Park near West Palm Beach.

Lion Country Safari is a drive-through wildlife preserve that has been entertaining visitors since 1967. The preserve is divided into seven sections, representing the wildlife in seven different parts of the world, including the Pampas of South America, the Gir Forest of India, Ruaha National Park of Africa, Kalahari Bushveldt of Southwest Africa, The Gorongosa of Mozambique, Serengeti Plains of East Africa, and the Hwange National Park of Zimbabwe.

The park contains the characteristic wildlife of these renowned locations and you can view the animals on a drive-through safari. You can also walk through Safari World amusement park which contains rides, games, animal exhibits, four interactive feeding exhibits, a water play area, an animal theater, picnic area, restaurant, gift shops and more.

The safari drive covers a course of four miles and you can see up to 800 animals. The best time to see the animals is when it is raining as the animals prefer the cooler weather. The second best time to see the animals is in the early morning when it is cooler and when the animals are more active.

The star animal attractions at Lion Country Safari are lions, giraffes, zebras, rhinos and chimpanzees but you can also see the Brazilian Tapir, the largest land tortoise in the world (Aldabra Tortoise), the Florida Brown Pelican, Impala, various varieties of antelope, Asiatic water buffalo, ostriches, wildebeest, and many others. The lions are kept in a special area, as many of the other animals are the natural prey of the lions.

To enjoy the safari drive-through and the walk-in park you should allot around five hours. Allow one and a half hours to drive through the four-mile preserve and at least three and a half hours in the walk-through area.

The park has a restaurant and a picnic area. In addition there is a popular KOA camping area adjacent to the park.

If you do not have your car with you or if your car does not have air conditioning, then the park offers rental vans. They are rented on a first come, first served basis. The rate is $10.00 or $18.00 per hour and a half, which is usually enough time to get through the drive-through. If you come fairly early (the gates open at 9:30am), you should be able to get a van without a wait.

Currently the general admission charge is $25, $22.50 for seniors, $18.00 for children (ages 3-9) and toddlers are free of charge. It costs $6 to park your vehicle, while visiting the walk-through amusement park.
